HISTORY (ORIGINAL VEHICLE)
During the early years of racing history, race cars were mostly driven around under their own power. But with the rules becoming more and more restrictive for automobiles on public roads, this type of self-transportation was just not feasible for race cars anymore. Hence came the need for race car transporters during the 1950s
and 1960s. Today those vehicles are being rediscovered as witnesses to a wondrous racing era.
Built with Bartoletti bodywork in 1957, the Fiat 642 RN2 might well be one of the most famous transporters of those days. Scuderia Ferrari and Scuderia Maserati had decided on an essentially identical vehicle for transporting their race cars. The major difference between the two transporters was just the paintwork and decals. Both vehicles were mounted on a bus-chassis of the same type from Fiat, on top of which the coachbuilder of Bartoletti installed an open deck that allowed three race cars to be carried on it. The transporter, which was equipped with a 92 hp six-cylinder diesel in-line-engine, was actually much more than just a means of transporting race cars. For its race team, the vehicle was also a work center with living quarters and crew space. Beside the race cars, the vehicle carried tools and spare parts for the whole weekend. Even a small workshop was included. In addition, a foldaway bed was provided for the crew.
This CMC model is an exact replica of the Bartoletti transporter. Produced in scale 1/18, this replica is of such an impressive size that it is bound to become a highlight of your collection.
The approximately 4.5 kg weight of this model and its second-to-none functionality are proof that we used only the best materials for manufacturing it. The core of CMC’s brand is particularly evident in the clear nish surface, which is highly valued by fans and collectors: the use of the best materials and the highest quality workmanship in manufacturing quality for lasting enjoyment and value retention. This is what distinguishes our original from other similar models that appear toy-like. To cut a long story short, CMC is presenting to you an extraordinary, fascinating model that is of unprecedented sophistication!
