CMC Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman – effort, passion and details
After a year-long engagement in producing the Mercedes-Benz 600 series, we came to realize that this is one of the most difficult projects that CMC has ever done. Apart from the multiple challenges imposed by the replication of an elongated car body that is known for its grandeur and splendour, there were also minute details that taxed our brains and wisdom. Here are a number of them.
Mercedes-Benz Star
We had aspired to better our craftsmanship of the Mercedes-Benz star. Eventually a new approach was found and adopted – the way that jewellery is processed! Of course, this is going to be very expensive. But if that is the price to pay, so be it. The adoption, however, is a continual process.
To begin with, by fine casting, we generated a sophisticated Mercedes star of cupronickel, an alloy known as “white copper,” except that it looked a bit yellowish. This led us to chrome the star so that it got a face-lift with the outlook of stainless- steel.

Did you notice the difference between the stars operating with and without a spring lock?
The new Mercedes-Benz star is about one third of the diameter of a one-yuan coin in the Chinese currency.
Installation of the antenna
Each CMC-made Mercedes-Benz 600 model car is equipped with an
antenna.

Each antenna consists of a head, a pole, a base, and an anti-slipping tube

The lower end of the pole is bent to prevent it from being pulled out
We further decided that you would be able to install and remove the Mercedes star freely, thus adding to the fun you may have with the replica.
Eventually a new intricate and dismountable Mercedes star became available, and it was first adopted to don the grille in the M-204.
